Deck Construction                                                   2 Classroom Hours          

This session will provide residential contractors, designers, building inspectors, and plan reviewers with the information needed to determine if the minimum requirements for deck construction set forth in the International Residential Code and the Johnson County Deck Design and Construction brochure have been met. Participants in this two-hour interactive, on-line code education seminar will learn the mechanics of wood used in deck construction, as well as how to size joists, beams, posts, and piers, and the proper specification and use of fasteners.
