U. S. OSHA Powered Industrial Truck Operators Training Program

2 hours Continuing Education Credit

U. S. OSHA mandates in 29CFR1910.178 that all operators of PITs undergo extensive classroom instruction in the myriad elements and components of their standard. This program, in 7 Modules, addresses each required element of the Federal Standard.  Successful completion of this online training program would allow a student to begin the practical, ‘hands-on’, site and PIT-specific training program under the auspices of their employer.

The OSHA Standard and its requirements
What a PIT is, and is not
PIT designations
PIT restrictions and limitations
The Pre-Use Inspection program
The stability triangle of a PIT
Visibility while operating a PIT
The differences between an automobile and a PIT
Fueling/refueling, charging/recharging a PIT safely
A PIT’s operating rules of the road
The most frequent hazards in PIT operations
When a PIT is attended or unattended
Picking a load
Traveling with a load
Setting a load
Loading/unloading a trailer
Review and summary

There is a three question quiz at the conclusion of each module.  Each quiz consists of one True/False, one multiple choice and one ‘fill-in-the-blank’ question.
